Temporary protection is defined in Article 2(a) of Directive 2001/55/EC. This Directive provides minimum standards for giving temporary protection in the event of a mass influx of displaced persons and measures promoting a balance of efforts between Member States for the reception and bearing the consequences of the reception of these persons.
The report below shows the statistical data produced by the Immigration Office (IO) regarding this temporary protection.
The methodology applied is documented at the end of the report.
The consolidated statistics are published on a monthly basis.
It is important to draw your attention to the fact that the beneficiaries of temporary protection are not included in the statistics on IP.
These are, after all, two separate procedures:
- temporary protection (TP) is defined in Article 2(a) of Directive 2001/55/EC, and
- international protection (IP) is defined in Article 2(h) of Directive 2011/95/EU.
