Visa application

People affected by the earthquake who wish to travel to Belgium to receive support from their families must apply for a type C visa for a stay of up to 90 days and a type D visa if they plan to settle in Belgium as part of a family reunion.

Extension of stay

People from an earthquake-affected region who are currently in Belgium and who wish to temporarily extend their stay must contact the municipal administration of the place where they reside before the date on which they should have left Belgium (expiration of their visa or residence permit).

Processing time

The Immigration Office will give priority to the processing of applications for visas and extensions of stay from persons originating from an area affected by the earthquake and submitted before February 6, 2023.

The Immigration Office will also process as quickly as possible applications for visas and extensions of stay for persons from an area affected by the earthquake submitted after February 6, 2023.
