This page provides information on the conditions that must be met, and the documents that must be presented, by the relatives of a Belgian national wishing to accompany or join him to live as a family in Belgium.
Firstly, a distinction must be made between underage Belgian nationals and adult Belgian nationals.
In addition, a distinction must be made between a Belgian exercising or having exercised his right to free movement, and a Belgian national who has not exercised that right.
The sponsor is a Belgian national:
- Minor (Article 40b of the Act)
- Major who is not exercising or has not exercised his right to freedom of movement (Article 40b of the Act)
- Major who is exercising or has exercised his right or freedom of movement (Directive 2004/38/EC)
