Certificate stating absence of convictions for crimes or misdemeanors under common law

As a rule, anyone aged 18 or over who wishes to stay in Belgium for more than 90 days must present a certificate stating that they have no convictions for crimes or misdemeanours under common law (an extract from the criminal record, etc.)

This document must be issued by the competent authority of the country of origin or provenance. 

in the 6 months preceding the submission of the visa application.

Where appropriate, the applicant must explain why they cannot present a certificate, or why they are presenting a certificate issued more than 6 months before the submission of the visa application.
