Application for International protection
COVID-19: impact on administrative procedures:

IMPORTANT: Application for International protection: obligation to make an appointment at the Registration center ‘Klein Kasteeltje’

Since 17 March all registration of applications for international protection in the Registration Center were temporally suspended due to the sanitary protections measures that were implemented by the Belgian Government in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

As from today all applicants that want to register a demand for international protection are obliged to make an appointment at the Registration Center by using an online form which is available on:  

Once completed the form will automatically be send to the Immigration Department.

An e-mail will be sent to the applicant with a confirmation of the date and the time of the appointment. This date and time are to be absolutely respected. Applicants have to present themselves on an individual base (if the case: with his family).

All group gatherings in front of the Registration Center are strictly forbidden.

The above-mentioned form is for the exclusive use by applicants for international protection.

Other applications made by using the above-mentioned form will not be taken into consideration.


Interview at the Immigration Department (Pacheco building) within the framework of an application for international protection

In function of the decisions, taken by the Belgian Government concerning the measures to limit the spread of the Coronavirus, the interviews of applicants for international protection have been temporarily suspended since 18 March 2020.

The persons, for whom the interview could not take place or for whom there is a future date on their Annex 26 (qq), may under no circumstances present themselves on their own initiative. They will not be granted access to the building.

A new invitation will be sent by the Immigration Department. You do not have to take any action yourself or fill in a form.

In this context, any change of residence must be notified by registered mail to the Immigration Department and the Office of the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons.
