The Law of 15 December 1980 allows the possibility of terminating the residence of any person who has obtained a residence permit if that person represents a serious threat to public order or national security. The facts of the case (and their seriousness and consequences) are considered, as well as whether the person concerned could still pose a real and present threat.
The person concerned must be interviewed before a termination decision is made. The family situation of the person concerned is taken into account, as are the length of their stay, their age, state of health, economic, social and cultural integration, and their links with their country of origin.
A decision to terminate residence may be accompanied by an and a ban on entry, which may also vary according to the individual situation of the person concerned.
